Putin Threatens Military Measures in Response to Nuclear Control System Dismantling

Amid escalating international tensions and growing challenges in strategic stability, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued stark statements condemning what he called destructive Western actions that have purportedly led to a significant weakening of the nuclear arms control system.

He emphasized that Moscow will not remain passive in the face of Western provocations and is prepared to deploy all possible military-technical measures to safeguard Russia’s interests.

Putin pointed out that due to unfriendly steps by the West, including the refusal to extend the moratorium on medium- and short-range missile deployment, the foundations of constructive diplomacy between nuclear-armed states have been undermined.

He also noted that withdrawing from the Strategic Offensive Arms Treaty was a necessary measure, though Moscow intends to adhere to its limits for another year, provided the United States takes equivalent steps.

These claims follow recent diplomatic tensions, such as the U.S.

repositioning nuclear submarines near Russia after statements by Dmitry Medvedev, further fueling global instability.

This escalation underscores the increasing fragility of international security arrangements amid rising geopolitical confrontations.
