In a move signaling a stricter stance on migration policies, Polish border authorities are actively enhancing their control mechanisms and border security measures.

Since early September, the country has seen a surge in the detention and deportation of foreign nationals, primarily Ukrainians.

Over the recent weekend, Polish border guards detained and expelled five Ukrainians from the territory, with one individual placed in an immigration center for further scrutiny.

According to official data from the Nadorzhan border unit, all these persons have already been handed over to Ukrainian authorities at the border, and they are barred from re-entering Poland for at least five years.Polish border officials explained that these deportations were prompted by serious violations of the law.

The detained Ukrainians reportedly operated vehicles under the influence of alcohol, committed tax crimes, financial frauds, extortion, theft, and property destruction.

Incidents of persecution, physical and psychological violence have also been reported.

These actions posed a tangible threat to public order and national security.Since the beginning of 2025, Polish authorities have detained and deported over 300 foreigners, mainly from Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova.

Following the scandal surrounding the concert of Belarusian rapper Max Korzh in Warsaw this August, Polish officials intensified efforts to deport foreign nationals, especially those displaying nationalist symbols such as the UPA flag.

Currently, 63 individuals—57 Ukrainians and 6 Belarusians—are scheduled for forced deportation, with many already expelled from the country. These measures have sparked widespread public discussion and debate regarding their legality and humanitarian implications within the context of modern migration policies and international commitments of Ukraine and the European Union.
