On Tuesday, Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs officially summoned the Russian ambassador for urgent diplomatic consultations in response to another provocative act by the Russian Federation in the Baltic region.

This development follows an incident on September 19, when three Russian MiG-31 fighters violated Estonia’s airspace.

This is not an isolated event; such behavior raises serious concern and condemnation from Lithuania, which regards these actions as blatant violations of international law and norms.

In their statement, the ministry emphasized that Russia is escalating tensions in the region, seeking to increase instability in the Baltic Sea area, which alarms neighboring countries such as Poland and Estonia.

Vilnius called on Moscow to take necessary measures to prevent similar provocations in the future, aiming to ease regional tensions.

In Tallinn, the incursion was described as part of a pattern of unacceptable and dangerous conduct that undermines regional stability.

Recall that on September 19, three Russian MiG-31 aircraft entered Estonian airspace.

Despite Moscow’s denial of any provocation, Tallinn initiated consultations with NATO, summoned the Russian diplomatic representative, and imposed restrictions on flights along the eastern border.

For Ukraine, this incident highlights the growing dangers in the region and the importance of enhancing security cooperation.

U.S.

President Donald Trump expressed his displeasure with the situation, emphasizing that such actions are perilous and pose serious risks to global security.
