Hungarian Foreign Minister Condemns Russian Drones’ Incursion into Polish Airspace, Emphasizes Dialogue with Moscow

Péter Szijjártó, Hungary’s foreign minister, issued a firm statement condemning the recent intrusion of Russian drones into Polish airspace, describing such actions as absolutely unacceptable and a breach of international security standards.
Nevertheless, he stressed that resolving the ongoing conflict and preventing further escalation requires maintaining diplomatic channels with Moscow, as military confrontations without dialogue could have even more serious regional consequences.
In interviews with ‘European Pravda’ and ‘Public’ respectively, Szijjártó expressed concern that escalation might lead to unpredictable outcomes and worsen the situation around Ukraine.
He highlighted the importance of collective European efforts to condemn any violations of the territorial integrity of sovereign countries.
The United States and European allies agree that diplomacy remains the only viable path forward, emphasizing that only through negotiations can solutions be found to avoid prolonging the war.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán previously described the drones violating Polish airspace as ‘unacceptable,’ although he acknowledged that such incidents are frequent given Poland’s ongoing war situation.
Poland’s Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski called on Orbán to stop supporting Russia’s actions and not to turn a blind eye to the conflict developments.
