In today’s economically uncertain environment, many Ukrainians face job loss amid ongoing market fluctuations.

To support those who find themselves unemployed, the Ukrainian government has established a comprehensive unemployment benefit system aimed at alleviating financial hardships and facilitating rapid reintegration into the workforce.

It is crucial to stay informed about the latest updates regarding eligibility, benefit sizes, and application procedures, as these parameters are subject to ongoing changes.

Unemployment benefits are tied to the minimum wage, which for 2025 is set at 8,000 UAH.

The maximum payment does not exceed this amount, while the minimum depends on the insured work experience.

For those with no insured experience, the minimum benefit was increased from 1,500 UAH to 3,000 UAH starting October 2024.

The duration of benefit payments depends on the insured work experience: up to three years of experience entitles individuals to 180 days of benefits, from three to six years — 210 days, and so on, extending up to 720 days for retirees or those nearing pension age.

To access these benefits, applicants must register with the nearest employment center or apply remotely through digital platforms such as the «Diya» portal or mobile app.

Once registered, the status of unemployed is granted immediately, with payments beginning right after.

The benefit amounts depend on the accumulated work experience and range from 50% to 80% of the average salary, which is 8,000 UAH in 2025.

The minimum benefit for those without experience is 3,000 UAH.

Additional support is provided to employers who create jobs for persons with disabilities, with compensation up to 120,000 UAH for first-degree disability and up to 80,000 UAH for second-degree.

If payments are halted, individuals should verify their unemployment status and reasons for termination, which could result from exhausting the benefit period or denial of the unemployment status itself.

It is also important to consider that voluntary resignation during temporary disability may have legal implications regarding eligibility for benefits.
