On September 21, Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs took a decisive diplomatic step by summoning the temporary chargé d’affaires of Russia to voice a firm protest against recent provocative actions by Moscow in the Baltic Sea region.

This move follows a bold incident on September 19, when Russian fighter jets violated Estonia’s airspace and carried out risky flights over Poland on the same day.

The official statement from the Lithuanian MFA emphasized that these actions constitute blatant violations of international law serving to escalate regional tensions.

Lithuania has demanded Russia to take all necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such provocations in the future.

These incidents highlight a concerning escalation that threatens the stability and security of the Baltic region, prompting urgent diplomatic responses to mitigate further conflicts and uphold international norms of sovereign airspace sovereignty.
