Ukraine Seeks to Join urgent UN Security Council Meeting Over Russian Aggression

Amid recent escalating tensions threatening international stability, Ukraine has officially requested to participate in an emergency session of the UN Security Council convened by Estonia.
This move aims to draw global attention to the extensive threat posed by Russia’s aggressive policies toward neighboring countries and regional stability.
According to Ukrainian diplomats, the country approached South Korea, which currently holds the presidency of the Security Council, to facilitate Ukraine’s participation and deliver its position regarding Russia’s unprovoked and provocative actions that have led to this crisis.
This follows recent incidents, notably the violation of Estonian airspace by three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets, prompting the convening of this extraordinary session.
Estonia has called for this meeting for the first time in over three decades, emphasizing the scale and seriousness of the threats stemming from Russia’s aggressive stance, which jeopardizes peace across Europe.
Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), highlighted that this initiative reflects the severity of current challenges and the need for unified international response.
Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas announced ongoing consultations with NATO under Article 4 of the Washington Treaty, allowing collective assessment and potential reinforcement of defense cooperation.
The historic nature of this development underscores the urgency for swift and decisive actions by the international community to prevent further escalation and restore stability in the region.
