Terrible Incident Near Poltava: Russian Drone Strikes Civil Dormitory, Leaving Ruins and Injuries
On the evening of September 20, a serious incident occurred in the Poltava region, drawing national attention.
At around 6:00 PM, local residents witnessed a dangerous armed attack — a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) intentionally targeted a residential complex situated within the Poltava district.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the drone struck a civilian dormitory, causing a large fire that spread to the third floor and the building’s roof.The aftermath of the attack was severe: the fire destroyed one apartment and ignited the roof.
Fortunately, no residents were injured at the time of impact, as most had already sought shelter or evacuated the area.
No fatalities or injuries have been reported officially, though firefighters and rescue workers worked tirelessly to extinguish the blaze.
Sappers and canine units from the State Emergency Service were involved in search-and-rescue operations and investigation.The damage was extensive: most notably, Olesia Skiba’s apartment was destroyed.
She was living there with her husband and son, but they were not home at the time.
As a result, her family’s residence is now completely unlivable.
On the morning of September 21, a special commission is scheduled to start assessing damages and determining support measures for those affected.
