In the ongoing history of the Afghanistan conflict, prominent signals have emerged indicating that the Taliban is steadfast in asserting its independence and inherent right to control its territory.

Following U.S.

President Donald Trump’s demand to return Bagram Airfield to Washington’s control, Taliban leadership issued a categorical statement reaffirming their unwavering stance.

The Taliban’s Chief of Staff, Fashihuddin Fitrat, emphasized that any attempt at a forceful takeover of this strategic site would provoke a strong response.

Subsequently, the U.S.

received confirmation that control over Bagram remains fully with the Taliban.

Meanwhile, Afghan authorities are implementing new measures to attract foreign investment, particularly from Russia, in the extractive industries including oil and gas.

The government asserts that Afghanistan is an independent and sovereign country governed by its people without foreign influence.

Bagram Airfield, historically a pivotal military base, once built by the Soviet Union in the 1950s and later used by the Americans, is now under Taliban control.

Before Trump issued threats of new sanctions and military actions, he hinted at possible negotiations with Afghan officials regarding the future status of this strategic installation.

Experts warned that any U.S.

attempt to reinvade Bagram could escalate into a full-scale military conflict, requiring thousands of troops and advanced air defense systems, with serious regional and global repercussions.
