Russian Forces Continue Operations Near Kostiantynivka: Tense and Uncertain Situation Persists

Chas Pravdy - 21 September 2025 18:39

In the direction of Kostiantynivka, a city in the Donetsk region, Russian occupation troops are actively maneuvering and attempting to establish footholds in surrounding small settlements.

Their goal is to create a strategic bridgehead for further offensive operations.

This information was shared by Viktor Tregubov, spokesperson for the operational-strategic group «Dnipro,» during a televised marathon.

He emphasized that the enemy’s current efforts are not very successful.

According to him, Russia has failed to fully capture the towns of Chasiv Yar and Toretsk, and without controlling these critical locations, advancing toward Kostiantynivka becomes significantly more difficult.

As of September 21 at 18:10, reports indicate that Ukrainian defenders are actively resisting the Russian assaults aimed at seizing smaller villages in the vicinity of Kostiantynivka.

Meanwhile, Russian air forces have launched missile strikes on the city and Ilinnivka, dropping six bombs and causing civilian casualties, including two fatalities.

These ongoing attacks intensify the situation, complicating defense efforts on both sides.

Military experts point out that Russian forces have shifted tactics from direct frontal assaults to flank and circumferential maneuvers, which pose serious risks to Ukrainian defenders and could lead to intense fighting for Kostiantynivka soon.

Ex-Azov Brigade commander Bogdan «Tavr» Krotevich warns that the city is currently in a state of semi-encirclement, which exacerbates the instability in this sector and raises the likelihood of further escalation and heavy clashes in the near future.
