Tensions in Chernihiv region escalate as Russian forces persist in conducting targeted attacks, causing widespread damage to critical infrastructure and affecting civilians’ safety.

Over the past week, Russian drones have repeatedly targeted key facilities, disrupting vital services and posing great risks to residents.

Most recently, night-time drone strikes hit an infrastructure facility in the Nizhyn district, resulting in injuries among emergency responders battling a fire.

According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, two firefighters sustained moderate injuries and were hospitalized.

This marks the second such incident within a week; earlier, drones targeted transport infrastructure in Chernihiv and caused civilian casualties.

As noted by the regional military administration head, Vyacheslav Chaus, a young man was wounded during the latest attack.

He was hospitalized in the neurology department.

A week earlier, drones had also struck Nizhyn, destroying a private oil depot and another industrial site, confirming an increase in the frequency and intensity of drone attacks.

The security situation remains critical, and local authorities call for strengthened measures to safeguard civilians and restore stability to the region.
