New Evidence of Foreign Mercenaries’ Involvement in Russia-Ukraine War: Ukrainian Military Unveils the Extent of International Volunteer Recruitment

Ukraine’s defense forces have released detailed new evidence revealing the extensive involvement of foreign fighters amid Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine.

Recent reports confirm a growing number of cases where the Russian military employs mercenaries—citizens from diverse countries such as Nepal, Iraq, and several African nations—highlighting the extent of Moscow’s reliance on foreign fighters to bolster its military campaigns.

According to official statements from Ukraine’s 10th Army Corps, these foreign combatants participate openly on the side of the aggressor, often lured by promises of money, passports, and a new life.

However, the reality is far grimmer: many of them are thrown into deadly situations without proper training or chances of survival.

Ukrainian military sources emphasize that the significant losses sustained by Russia have prompted Kremlin officials to recruit more mercenaries and vulnerable populations worldwide, exploiting their despair and greed.

These individuals are lured with false promises but end up in a warzone where their lives are at constant risk, often dying without hope of rescue or return home.

Ukrainian defenders underscore that among the detained or killed mercenaries are individuals driven by desperation, greed, or deception—each becoming expendable in Moscow’s deadly game of warfare.

Since the full-scale invasion, Ukrainian forces have reportedly eliminated over 500 foreign mercenaries from 28 countries, with the heaviest fighting involving nationals from Nigeria, Kenya, and other African states fighting on Russia’s side.

The fiercest battles involving foreign fighters have been documented in the Kursk region in 2024, where Russia’s military has actively recruited international fighters to strengthen its positions.

The ongoing conflict underscores the importance of international vigilance and support for Ukraine’s efforts to contain this foreign mercenary threat, which is fueling the bloodshed and prolonging the war.
