Kirovohrad Region Police Shootout: Shooter Detained After Wounding Two Officers

In a shocking incident that rocked the Kirovohrad region, law enforcement agencies responded swiftly to an attack that occurred on September 20.

A resident of the Novoukrainka district, born in 1979, opened gunfire during a routine ID check, injuring two police officers.

One officer sustained serious injuries and is in critical condition, requiring urgent medical attention, while the other, shot in the arm, is reported stable.

Thanks to a coordinated special operation involving detectives, operational officers, forensic personnel, and K9 units, the suspect, a local resident identified as born in 1979, was successfully apprehended.

During a search, authorities found and confiscated homemade revolver crafted manually, ammunition, gunpowder, and other evidence linking him to the attack.

According to National Police Chief Ivan Vihivskyi, the detainee was actively involved in the incident, and investigators are now working to establish all the circumstances surrounding the event.

The conflict was sparked during a routine ID check that escalated into an armed assault, highlighting increasing tensions in the region and underscoring the need for heightened security measures.
