Mass protests in the Netherlands escalated into violent confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement, raising serious concerns about democracy and political stability in the country.

On Saturday, police in The Hague deployed tear gas and water cannons to disperse aggressive participants in an anti-immigration rally that drew thousands.

Reports indicate over thirty protesters were detained, and two officers suffered injuries.

The protesters called for tougher immigration policies and restrictions on asylum seekers, many waving national flags and symbols associated with far-right movements.

These developments intensify the political climate ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for late October, highlighting the deepening divides within Dutch society.
