Armed man opens fire on police officers during document check in Kirovohrad region

A serious incident involving gunfire occurred in the Kirovohrad region, when a local resident deliberately opened fire on law enforcement officers during a routine document check.
According to official information from the National Police, the incident took place on September 20 at approximately 4:03 PM in the village of Pishaniy Brid, Novoukrainka district.
As a result of the shooting, the head of the patrol response sector was wounded in the abdomen by a gunshot, while his colleague was injured in the arm.
Preliminary reports indicate that the shooter used an unidentified or illegally owned weapon.
Law enforcement agencies have launched a special operation to locate and apprehend the attacker, and the manhunt is ongoing.
This event has raised concerns among local residents and underscored the importance of enhancing security measures across the region.
It is noteworthy that this is not an isolated case—at the end of summer, an attack on a TCC vehicle occurred in Volyn, and in July, a resident of Volyn assaulted a TCC representative with a shovel.
Such incidents highlight the increasing tension in the region and the urgent need for strengthened law enforcement response and regional safety measures.
