Zelensky reports: captured maps reveal Russian command’s misinformation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during a recent meeting with journalists—who were not from Ukrainian news agencies—disclosed a significant development concerning the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine.

According to him, Ukrainian troops during their counteroffensive in Donetsk managed to seize enemy maps, which clearly demonstrate that Russian forces are intentionally providing their command with distorted information about the battlefield situation.

Zelensky pointed out that these maps serve as concrete evidence of the discrepancy between Russian intelligence reports and the true state of affairs on the frontline.

He emphasized that the civilian-level reports within the Russian army are significantly detached from reality, highlighting that Russian medical, logistical, and strategic data are deliberately manipulated to create a false narrative of success.

This revelation sheds new light on the dynamics of the conflict, showing how the Russian military may be suffering from informational blind spots and internal miscommunication.

Furthermore, Zelensky stressed that Russian propaganda continues to promote the myth of a swift victory in Donbas, with false claims that within 30 days they would capture the entirety of the region, including towns like Pokrovsk and Dobропilly.

However, the actual situation is quite different: Ukrainian forces have regained control over major territories, with more than 160 kilometers of front line liberated and an additional 170 kilometers still under Ukrainian protection.

The Ukrainian military is anticipating that Russian reinforcements will be sent to these regions to maintain their positions, but the resilience and strategic planning of Ukrainian troops remain robust.

Zelensky also recalled that on September 20 he predicted that, once the number of Ukrainian drones equals that of the Russians, the enemy would face a fuel shortage, which would critically weaken their operational capacity.

Overall, these developments underscore Ukraine’s effective military tactics and information strategies, which continue to threaten Russian advances and expose the gaps in their command structure.

The seized maps are just one illustration of Kyiv’s efforts to outmaneuver the occupying forces and restore territorial integrity.
