Zelensky Announces Creation of Modern Assault Units and Cooperation with the West to Counter Drones
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a significant announcement regarding military reforms in Ukraine, specifically revealing plans to establish new, modern assault units equipped with cutting-edge drone technology and other advanced systems.
According to Zelensky, these units are already operational at the front lines, and their legal status will soon be formally codified into law.
The President emphasized that the idea of forming such assault detachments originated from combat experience, and Ukrainian forces already field battalions and regiments successfully executing combat tasks.
He stressed that for more effective resistance against the aggressor, it is crucial to legally recognize and protect these units.
Additionally, Zelensky spoke about Ukraine’s potential collaboration with Western allies in the field of air defense, particularly regarding joint efforts to shoot down UAVs over Ukrainian territory.
This includes possibilities of intercepting unmanned aircraft in the western regions of Ukraine, especially those bordering Poland and Romania.
Furthermore, in military developments, there are reports that Russian forces, inspired by the Wagner Group, are attempting to form ‘infected’ units, which have been spotted near Bakhmut and have raised security concerns internationally.
