Ukrainian Business in Turbulent Times: Exploring New Markets and Modern Challenges

Despite the prolonged war and significant economic difficulties, Ukrainian businesses continue to demonstrate resilience and adaptability by seeking new growth avenues.

Recent surveys conducted by the Institute of Economic Research in August 2025 reveal that approximately 17.5% of companies are most concerned with finding new partners and entering emerging markets.

This figure has doubled compared to January of the same year, indicating an active push to expand despite ongoing challenges.

Meanwhile, over 70% of enterprises report stable or even improved production conditions, with growth mainly observed among larger firms.

The survey shows that two-thirds of respondents noted full or near-full utilization of their production capacities, reflecting a trend toward industrial stability.

Conversely, micro-enterprises highlight ongoing struggles, experiencing declining consumer bases and seasonal drops in sales.

However, optimism is growing: assessments of the overall economic environment have improved slightly, and short-term outlooks are significantly more positive.

Globally, Ukrainian entrepreneurs are still focused on short-term planning horizons, a sign of prevailing uncertainty about long-term prospects.

Overall, in spite of numerous obstacles, Ukrainian businesses display a strong ability to find ways to survive and develop amid complex modern-day challenges.
