Ukraine’s War Losses Reach Nearly $589 Billion: Details and Impact

The total economic and humanitarian damages inflicted upon Ukraine due to Russia’s invasion have soared to nearly 589 billion dollars.
This information was disclosed by Verkhovna Rada’s Finance Committee Chairman Danylo Hetmanetz in an interview with Novyny.LIVE.
According to estimates by the World Bank, over 13% of Ukraine’s housing stock has been destroyed as a result of ongoing hostilities, affecting approximately 2.5 million households.
The war has caused four million Ukrainians to become internally displaced persons, while more than seven million have been forced to flee abroad seeking safety and better living conditions.
These catastrophic consequences have prompted the Ukrainian government to implement various support measures for devastated populations.
Hetmanetz emphasized that recovery and assistance are national priorities, especially for frontline regions.
In addition, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko announced that the government has approved several initiatives to aid internally displaced persons.
Among them, 1 billion hryvnias have been allocated to provide temporary housing for displaced families, and during winter, internally displaced persons will be able to receive up to 8 thousand hryvnias for firewood.
These steps form part of a broader effort by the government to strengthen social support, address the war’s aftermath, and ensure safety for the most vulnerable citizens.
Ukraine aims to overcome the destructive impacts of the conflict and restore stability to the lives of its people.
