Russia’s First Strategic Missiles Appeared Over Ukraine: Their Target and Mission

On the morning of September 20, Ukrainian monitoring sources detected the launch of the first missiles fired by Russian strategic aviation forces.
At approximately 5:30 a.m., the initial cruise missiles entered Ukrainian airspace over Sumy region, having been launched from Russian strategic bombers operating within Russia’s airspace.
This incident marks another escalation in Russia’s military activities, signaling attempts to carry out new strikes across Ukraine’s territory.
Local monitoring communities quickly reported the missile launches, and by 5:34 a.m., official sources from the Ukrainian Air Forces confirmed the appearance of a cruise missile flying past Okhtyrka in the direction of Poltava region, heading towards Lubi.
The incident highlights the ongoing tactical operations by Russian strategic forces and raises questions about their long-range objectives, as well as potential future escalation of conflict.
Ukrainian military and security agencies are already working on neutralizing possible targets and preventing further attacks in the coming days.
