According to information provided by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), a betrayal was uncovered and detained in the Sumy region, whose activities involved providing valuable intelligence to the Russian enemy for conducting targeted attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

The accused, a 42-year-old resident and employee of a local enterprise, voluntarily collaborated with Russian special services.

His actions included spreading pro-Russian comments on popular Telegram channels, which allowed him to establish contact with FSB handlers.

After receiving instructions from Moscow, the traitor used Google Maps to identify substations that Russian forces later targeted for destruction, aiming to disable the region’s power supply.

The goal of these attacks was to destroy vital energy facilities, risking blackouts in frontline areas and exacerbating the energy crisis in Ukraine.

Russian drones attacked energy objects in Sumy, causing power outages, especially in certain districts.

The agent monitored radar stations and Ukrainian air defense missile systems to better coordinate attacks and evade Ukrainian defenses.

He also tracked mobile defense groups operating in the city during air raid alerts.

A smartphone used for gathering intelligence and maintaining contacts with FSB handlers was confiscated during a search at his residence.

Based on collected evidence, a court found the agent guilty of state treason committed during wartime under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code.

This case underscores the danger posed by internal traitors attempting to weaken Ukraine’s defenses from within by aiding enemy strikes on critical infrastructure.

Previously, it was reported that a couple in Kyiv was detained for installing surveillance cameras to assist in targeted airstrikes, further illustrating the scope of internal threats amid the ongoing conflict.
