Russia Denies Violating Estonia’s Airspace During MiG-31 Flight

In response to widespread reports and accusations of airspace violation by Estonia, Russia’s Ministry of Defense officially announced that on September 19, their MiG-31 fighters conducted a routine transit from Karelia to a base in the Kaliningrad region.
They emphasized that the flight adhered strictly to international aviation regulations and did not breach Estonia’s sovereignty.
Russian officials clarified that the military aircraft followed a predetermined route over neutral waters of the Baltic Sea, maintaining a distance of more than three kilometers from the Vaindlo island.
This route was monitored through objective control systems, ensuring transparency and compliance with established protocols.
The incident has garnered significant attention among military analysts, while a former Ukrainian defense minister urged NATO to act proactively, similar to Turkey’s response in 2015, to prevent potential escalation in the region.
NATO’s response and increased vigilance are now being closely watched as tensions continue to rise in eastern Europe.
