Ukraine Endures Large-Scale Air Attack: Over Fifteen Drones Hit Targets, Ukrainian Defense Responds

On the night of September 19, Ukraine once again faced a massive air assault launched by Russian forces, who deployed an overwhelming number of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) aimed at striking strategic targets across the country.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, more than 86 drones were recorded during this attack, predominantly of the Shahed type, along with other unmanned aircraft launched from various directions, including Kursk, Shatalovo, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtersk.
Ukrainian military units responded actively, employing aviation assets, air defense systems, electronic warfare units, and mobile firing groups to counter the assault.
As of 9:00 a.m., Ukrainian defenses had successfully shot down or suppressed over 71 UAVs of different types.
There were 15 confirmed hits on six locations, with wreckage from the downed drones falling in two additional sites.
The ongoing drone attack underscores the persistent threat posed by enemy UAVs, with new groups entering Ukraine from the northern direction.
This situation emphasizes the urgent need to bolster air defense capabilities and enhance protection of critical infrastructure and population centers throughout Ukraine.
