On Friday, U.S.

President Donald Trump held a phone conversation with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, discussing pressing matters of international diplomacy, trade concerns, and the ongoing war in Ukraine.

According to Trump, this call marked a significant development, as he indicated that notable progress was made on several critical issues affecting global relations.

The leaders reportedly reached agreements related to trade policies, combating fentanyl trafficking, and the necessity of ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Trump emphasized that during the dialogue, they also discussed the approval of the TikTok agreement.

Furthermore, the leaders agreed to meet at the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in South Korea, with plans for Trump to visit China in 2026 and for Xi to travel to the United States at an appropriate time.

This was the first conversation between U.S.

and Chinese top officials since June, occurring amidst announced negotiations over TikTok’s future and trade relations.

Recently, Trump delayed implementing a law requiring TikTok to be banned or sold to American owners.

Tensions between the two powers persist as the U.S.

and China remain embroiled in a trade conflict over critical industries such as semiconductors and rare earth elements.
