Russian Provocation Masquerading as Concern: Sumy Region Detects New Propaganda Operation by Occupants

In the village of Velyka Pysarivka, located in the Ohtyrskyi district of Sumy region, Russian military personnel are distributing leaflets urging residents to evacuate, claiming to care for the safety of civilians.

This tactic is part of a broader psychological warfare aimed at sowing panic and chaos among local populations.

According to the Sumy Oblast Military Administration, such actions are a typical example of enemy disinformation operations—deliberate propaganda and manipulation designed to exert psychological pressure and incite fear.

The authorities emphasize that these leaflets are not genuine expressions of concern but are instead a form of information warfare, intended to destabilize and spread misinformation.

Citizens are urged to rely only on official sources of information, remain calm, and follow civil defense instructions in case of emergency.

Velyka Pysarivka, situated near the Russian border with Belgorod region, is subject to regular shelling from Russian forces.

This context led officials to approve the evacuation plan for the community as early as March 13, 2024, indicating a tangible threat of escalation.

The Russian propaganda campaign appears to be an attempt to create an illusion of ‘care,’ while in reality, it serves as a tool to manipulate and spread false information concerning possible future invasions or missile attacks.

Previously, Sumy Oblast reported that more than 90 people evacuated from hazardous areas in early August, including from Velyka Pysarivka.

The evacuation preparations continue, given the ongoing threat and the strategic importance of timely responses to emerging threats.
