MI6 Chief Expresses Skepticism About Putin’s Peace Intentions in Ukraine

The head of Britain’s MI6 intelligence service, Richard Moore, publicly stated that he sees no evidence indicating Russian President Vladimir Putin is genuinely interested in seeking peace in Ukraine.
According to Moore, all signs point to the contrary: the Kremlin is determined to impose its imperial dominance by any means necessary, disregarding humanitarian considerations and the prospects for diplomatic resolution.
In an interview with The Guardian, Moore emphasized that Russia shows no willingness to make concessions, and any talks of negotiations are merely a facade designed to mask their intent to force Ukraine into surrender through military might.
The intelligence chief highlighted that Russia’s elite and military leadership are relentlessly pursuing a decisive victory, but Putin and his entourage underestimated the resilience of the Ukrainian people and failed to grasp how strong their resistance truly is.
Moore also noted that Putin is trying to convince the world of his victory, but these claims are nothing but lies intended to deceive both the international community and the Russian populace.
Furthermore, he mentioned that the ongoing war and Russia’s external actions are accelerating the country’s internal decline, turning this conflict into a form of self-destruction.
This situation also contributes to Russia violating the foundational principles of the rules-based international system.
Lastly, Moore announced that he will be stepping down from his position at the end of the month, underlining his firm stance on the Ukraine conflict and global stability.
