The city of Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region is facing a severe ecological and human crisis that could have far-reaching consequences for the entire area.

Ukrainian MP Maryana Bezhula warned of the deteriorating situation caused by the increased activity of Russian forces advancing in the region.

According to her, high-level leadership is concealing the gravity of the threat looming over the city and its residents. The danger lies in the fact that, by capturing Kupyansk, Russia is opening a route for a renewed occupation of territories in Kharkiv oblast, which had been retaken in 2022.

Reports and intelligence suggest that Russian troops are using a gas pipeline as a strategic point and transportation route for their forces—an alarming development.

To counteract this, Ukrainian defense forces damaged and flooded the pipeline, aiming to disrupt Russian troop movements.

Despite these efforts, Russian forces continue their active deployment, often moving via rafts and boats across the Oskil River.Military commanders indicate that Russia’s main goal is to bypass Kupyansk from the northwest and push deeply into the city.

Currently, street fighting persists as Ukrainian defenders engage in fierce combat with saboteurs and Russian soldiers attempting to secure a foothold in the city.

The Center for Counteracting Disinformation confirmed that Russian troops are not present in the city center at this moment, but hostilities continue throughout the streets, maintaining a state of high tension and unpredictability.

These developments threaten the safety of local residents and the stability of Kharkiv region as a whole, highlighting the critical need for continued vigilance and support to Ukrainian forces.
