Consequences of Drone Attack on Kyiv: Disruptions in Public Transport and Communications

In Kyiv, the aftermath of a nighttime drone attack carried out by Russian forces on the night of September 19 has led to significant disruptions in the city’s public transportation system and telecommunication networks.
Due to damage to infrastructure, particularly communication channels, residents and visitors are experiencing temporary issues with card payments and ticket validation on the high-speed tram and funicular.
Kyiv City State Administration has warned that due to damaged equipment at stations and turnstiles, standard payment methods may not be recognized.
In such cases, passengers are advised to validate their tickets directly inside the tram.
Additionally, the official website of the Kyiv Passenger Transport Enterprise is temporarily out of service due to damage to telecom connection channels caused by the drone strike.
Specialists are working to quickly repair the faults and restore stable service operation.
The debris of the drone has caused further issues to the city’s transport infrastructure.
The Kyiv City Military Administration urges passengers to be patient and reminds that in case of payment or validation failures, validation in the tram cabin is an alternative.
Prior reports indicated that during the attack, an unused drone was found, which possibly did not explode and was left on the city’s territory.
