Ukrainian illustrators achieve international recognition at the 2025 World Illustration Awards

Ukrainian artists Yulia Gvilim and Zhenya Polosina successfully showcased their work at the prestigious international competition, the 2025 World Illustration Awards, securing high honors among participants worldwide.
The contest, which annually gathers hundreds of creative projects from around the globe, awarded them with prestigious Highly Commended recognitions in two different categories.
Zhenya Polosina was honored in the ‘Book Cover’ category for her illustration for Herbert George Wells’ collection of short stories, ‘The Country of the Blind,’ published by ‘Esle Odnu Storinu.’ Yulia Gvilim received her award in the ‘Children’s Book Illustration’ category for her authorial book ‘Kryak!,’ which narrates the story of a little tiger and the importance of staying true to oneself.
The publication, created in collaboration with ‘Old Lion Publishing,’ gained wide recognition and popularity among young readers and parents alike.
This year, more than 4,700 submissions from 85 countries participated, with a shortlist of 200 projects.
Other Ukrainian artists, such as Tetiana Yakunova, Andriana Chunis, Masha Foya, and Oleksandr Shatokhin, also received distinctions.
Ukraine’s consistent success on this platform underscores the ongoing growth of its cultural scene and the talents of its illustrators.
The recognition confirms the significant progress Ukrainian artists have made in the international arena, highlighting their creativity and dedication.
The awards ceremony was held online on September 16, bringing together creatives from all over the world.
The prestigious prize not only represents personal achievement but also promotes Ukrainian culture, enabling it to reach a global audience through art and illustration achievements.
