A new national structure has emerged in Ukraine — the National Association of Frontline Cities and Communities.

This alliance, formed to consolidate efforts, resources, and strategic planning, aims to support regions most affected by military actions.

The association is headed by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, a well-known politician and experienced administrator who sees this initiative as a crucial move towards the sustainable development of devastated areas.

The idea of creating such an organization was born during the forum “Strategic Dimensions of Fortress Cities,” where more than 100 communities from various regions — Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, and Kyiv — expressed their support.

The main goal of the association is to coordinate resources and efforts aimed at reconstruction, attracting government investment, and building a resilient economic future.

It is expected to become a platform for exchanging experiences among local leaders, establishing cooperation with international organizations, and implementing strategic recovery projects.

Particular focus will be given to assisting affected populations, enhancing emergency services, restoring critical infrastructure, ensuring safety in schools and kindergartens, and supporting internally displaced persons.

Equally important is fostering entrepreneurship through tax incentives, investment programs, and simplified administrative procedures, thereby boosting industrial revival and job creation.

Additionally, the government’s support measures introduced on August 13, covering 238 communities across ten regions starting from September 1, exemplify a systematic approach to post-war recovery efforts.
