Ukraine and Poland Agree to Establish Joint Drones Development Group to Enhance Defensive Capabilities

In a significant move towards strengthening regional security, Ukraine and Poland have agreed to establish a joint operational group dedicated to unmanned aerial systems, aimed at boosting their military defenses through coordinated efforts in this advanced technological field.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced during a joint briefing with his Polish counterpart that the new group would comprise representatives from both countries’ armed forces and serve as a platform for information exchange, development, and deployment of cutting-edge drone technologies, as well as joint personnel training programs.
Shmyhal emphasized that among the group’s key activities would be conducting joint exercises designed to enhance troops’ readiness and skills, enabling them to better counter contemporary threats.
He highlighted that this initiative would open new avenues for integrating innovative defense solutions and strengthening national security.
Polish Defense Minister Waldysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, accompanied by a delegation from the Polish military command, arrived in Kyiv for signing agreements related to cooperation.
In an interview with RMF24, he stated that the countries would formalize bilateral cooperation agreements covering joint manufacturing and operation of drones, as well as share military expertise.
Discussions will also focus on developing industrial initiatives and improving troop capabilities based on Ukrainian experience.
The collaboration aims to establish a joint industrial base for drone production and upgrades, contributing to improved national defense systems.
This strategic partnership marks a new chapter of military cooperation, designed to reinforce the security architecture of both nations and ensure stability in the region.
