Summer Heat Returns: Meteorologist Forecasts New Warm Weeks in Ukraine

Prepare for a sudden weather shift: after early September brought heavy rains across Ukraine, a new hot period is on the horizon.

Leading Ukrainian meteorologist Natalia Ptukha, who spoke to NV, stated that warmth and stable dry weather will soon return to the country.

She assured that by September 18, western regions of Ukraine will cease experiencing rainfall, while other regions will still be affected for a few more days.

However, by the end of the week, precipitation will subside again, and the weather will turn more suitable for leisure and work.According to the meteorologist, on September 19, most of the country will see temperatures rise to +17…+23°C, and from September 20, warm weather will establish itself — temperatures will reach +20…+26°C.

She noted that an anticyclone with high atmospheric pressure pushing in from the southwest will bring dry and warm weather for the upcoming weekend.

Clear skies, more sunshine, and increased daytime temperatures are expected.

Consequently, from September 20 to 24, warm weather will persist, with temperatures possibly reaching +24…+28°C, benefiting not only southern regions but also central areas such as Kyiv. The specialist mentioned that even if the latter half of September turns out to be cooler — for example, due to a cold snap in Kyiv or other northern areas — warmth will return by the weekend and hold.

There is hope that Ukrainians can enjoy a comfortable autumn with lingering summer warmth.

Meanwhile, global warming remains a major concern worldwide: in 2024, the average temperature on Earth surpassed pre-industrial levels by 1.5°C, breaking all records.

Extreme weather phenomena — hurricanes, droughts, intense floods — are becoming increasingly frequent.

Projections indicate that within the next century, temperatures could rise another 2.7°C, posing real danger to all living beings.

Although this scenario is not the worst-case, it still raises alarm and calls for international efforts to reduce emissions and stabilize the climate.
