Kyiv prepares for the heating season: nearly 90% of residential buildings receive readiness certificates and undergo final inspections

Kyiv’s authorities have announced that almost 90% of residential buildings in the capital have completed the necessary preparatory work and obtained official readiness certificates for the upcoming heating season.
Deputy Head of Kyiv City State Administration, Petro Panteleev, stated that this indicator reflects a stable situation regarding the housing sector’s readiness for the cold months.
During the preparatory phase, management companies focus not only on repairs and technical inspections of heating systems but also on bringing all technical facilities and communication systems within residential buildings up to standard.
Panteleev emphasized that despite the large number of buildings varying in age and condition, the primary goal remains ensuring their operational safety and reliability during winter.
His words were made public at the end of September, and there remains limited time to complete all inspections and address potential deficiencies.
Authorities urge management companies to utilize this time effectively to prevent disruptions in heating and hot water supply.
Additionally, Ukrainian citizens are advised to prepare for possible mass power outages, which are a strategic aspect of national infrastructural stability.
According to Ukrainian energy companies, as of September 14, the gas reserves in underground storage facilities have surpassed last year’s levels for the first time, reaching 12.06 billion cubic meters.
However, experts warn that these reserves might still be insufficient for a fully secure winter and continue working towards energy security amid the ongoing challenges.
Expert Serhiy Makohon notes that, despite the positive trend in gas stocks, numerous challenges remain — from technical issues to supply disruptions — which require careful planning and preparation for the upcoming cold season.
In light of this situation, government agencies call on the population to stay informed and prepared for any scenarios to ensure the continuous operation of vital services during severe weather conditions.
