Continuous Battle for Antonivskyi Bridge: Russia’s Long-standing Aim to Control the Left Bank of the Dnipro River

For over a year, Ukrainian defenders and analysts have been closely observing a persistent and tense struggle for control over a strategically vital area near Antonivskyi Bridge.
Russian occupation forces have consistently launched offensive actions in southern Ukraine, particularly around Kherson, aiming to establish dominance on the left bank of the Dnipro River.
Notably, the enemy has intensified efforts to seize positions around Oleshky, controlling the critical object — Antonivskyi Bridge, which is a crucial artery for supply lines and regional security.Military experts point out that this narrow passage across the river is a key strategic node, allowing the enemy to control the situation on the right bank and carry out strikes against Ukrainian military and civilian objects.
Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Southern Defense Forces, stated live on the channel “My Ukraine” that Russians have been trying to displace Ukrainian troops from areas around the Antonivskyi railway and road bridges for over a year.According to Voloshyn, Ukrainian marines hold their positions and repel numerous enemy assaults despite constant pressure.
Analysis indicates that Russia lacks sufficient resources for a large-scale offensive in this region, especially on the islands at the Dnipro estuary.
Serhiy Bratchuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, added that the enemy cannot organize a full-scale attack due to limited resources, and their actions remain at the level of local attempts at breakthrough.Overall, the situation remains tense and demands continuous vigilance from Ukrainian defenders, as control over this critical sector will influence the ongoing battles in the Kherson region, especially regarding logistics and regional defense.
