Ukrainian sappers ramp up demining efforts on liberated territories: over 8,000 explosive devices neutralized in August

In August, Ukrainian demining units under the Ministry of Defense achieved significant progress in clearing territories liberated from Russian occupation.
They surveyed nearly 6,000 hectares, including agricultural land, roads, railways, and power lines, removing hazardous objects and ensuring safe passage for civilians and resumption of economic activities.
Throughout the month, specialists identified and neutralized over 8,000 explosive items, reducing threats to local populations and allowing for restoration and rebuilding efforts.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, more than 458,000 dangerous objects have been destroyed across the country.
According to international sources, Ukraine remains one of the most heavily mined countries globally, with over a million landmines scattered across its territory—an immense safety challenge complicating peacebuilding and recovery efforts.
