Ukraine repels massive drone attack from Russia: 76 out of 86 UAVs neutralized
Since the evening of August 31, Ukraine’s air defense systems have thwarted a large-scale attack by Russian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) aimed at our territory.
According to the Ukrainian Air Forces, 86 combat drones of the Shahed type and various decoys, originating from Russian cities such as Kursk, Orel, Bryansk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from the temporarily occupied Crimea, were detected and engaged.
Ukrainian defenders successfully neutralized 76 UAVs, but some managed to reach their targets, causing damage.
By 09:00 in the morning, the Air Forces reported that the majority of the attacking drones had been shot down or suppressed across northern, southern, eastern, and central regions of Ukraine.
Despite the high number of destroyed UAVs, six locations experienced hits, impacting infrastructure and infrastructure-related objects.
This recurring attack highlights Russia’s persistent efforts to destabilize Ukraine using drone warfare, aiming to target critical infrastructure and strategic sites.
Ukrainian military officials emphasize that the defense involved a coordinated effort of aviation units, anti-aircraft missile systems, electronic warfare equipment, unmanned platforms, and mobile firing units working together to counter the assault, demonstrating the resilience and readiness of Ukrainian forces in defending their sovereignty.
