Ukraine Opens the First Section of a Unique Carpathian Tourist Route: A New Path to Nature’s Wonders and Cultural Heritage

In the heart of the Carpathian Mountains, amid picturesque landscapes of Zakarpattia, a significant eco-tourism event took place — the opening of the first 55-kilometer segment of a long-anticipated tourist route.
This new trail aims to become not only a regional landmark but also a symbol of European unity in the shared effort to preserve nature, culture, and support Ukrainian soldiers affected by war.According to Myroslav Biletsky, head of the Zakarpattia Regional Military Administration, this opening marks the first step toward executing an extensive international project that will include routes crossing Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland.
Currently, Ukraine has unveiled its initial 55 km stretch of what will be a longer route extending over 395 kilometers.
The project envisions a harmonious blend of natural beauty, history, and modern tourism. The initial phase of the route features rest zones, camping sites, observation points, and well-equipped bicycle parking.
The route is planned to have two main directions: the primary, which runs through scenic forests and less trafficked roads close to mountain key points, and a mountainous variant that aligns with hiking trails and provides paths for mountain biking.
This will allow tourists to enjoy the natural environment, hike, or cycle through the breathtaking Ukrainian Carpathians. As it unfolds, the project’s comprehensive route will open new opportunities for domestic tourism, promoting the region’s landscapes, cultural heritage, and environmental conservation.
It also exemplifies the country’s unity in striving to develop and elevate its tourism industry, showcasing the beauty and resilience of Ukraine’s natural and cultural treasures.
