Impact of Drone Attacks in Krasnodar Krai: Extensive Damage and New Security Challenges for Russian Infrastructure

On September 1, the Krasnodar region of Russia once again faced alarming reports of large-scale drone attacks that significantly affected local residents and caused extensive damage to critical regional infrastructure.
Starting from around 2 a.m., unidentified attack drones—possibly of Ukrainian origin or from other sources—launched a series of strikes, resulting in serious destruction of energy facilities, including oil refineries and power substations.
In the settlement of Ilskoye, near Novorossiysk, a major fire erupted following a drone assault.
This location hosts one of the largest oil refineries in the region, which has previously been targeted multiple times by Ukrainian drones.
These attacks have heightened anxiety among local residents, disrupting their peace and posing additional security challenges for authorities.
According to regional emergency services, several fuel tanks were destroyed during the explosions and fire.
Furthermore, in the neighboring city of Kropotkin, an explosion on a power substation led to power outages in parts of the city.
Eyewitnesses report a fire near the railway station, complicating the energy supply further.
Video footage from the scene, published by ASTRA, shows the extent of destruction and chaos.
It is important to note that previous attacks targeted Novoshakhtinsk Oil Refinery, resulting in a fire that lasted five days and destroyed six tanks.
These events demonstrate that the region is increasingly becoming a testing ground for new wartime tactics, while the safety of civilians remains under serious threat.
