Ukrainian General Staff Responds to Russian Spring-Summer Offensive Failures

The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ General Staff issued a strong statement regarding the outcome of the spring-summer offensive campaign carried out by Russian forces.

According to Ukrainian military officials, this operation was an outright failure for the aggressor’s army, as it practically ended without achieving significant results.

Russian Defense Chief Valery Gerasimov attempted to present a different narrative, trying to paint the situation as a success, but Ukrainian soldiers unequivocally emphasized that Russia failed to seize control over any major Ukrainian city, suffering heavy losses instead.

Since the start of the year, the Russian side has lost nearly 210,000 soldiers, wounded and killed, particularly in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions.

Ukrainian defenses also managed to damage and destroy 157 multiple launch rocket systems, over 7,300 artillery systems, more than 1,200 tanks, and around 2,174 armored combat vehicles.

Russian claims of significant gains are greatly exaggerated, as they attempt to conceal failures in Kharkiv and Sumy regions, which have resulted in their strategic retreat.

Ukrainian forces continue to push back the invaders from border settlements in Sumy region.

Meanwhile, Russian figures regarding territorial gains are largely inflated and unreliable.

Military analysts characterized Gerasimov’s report as a typical example of Russian propaganda and boastfulness.

According to The Economist, the Russian summer offensive has proved to be the deadliest phase of the full-scale invasion, with approximately 31,000 Russian casualties predicted, highlighting the campaign’s brutal and relentless nature.
