Ukrainian Defense Forces Effectively Counter New Russian Tactics in Pokrovske Sector

In southeastern Ukraine, a region of strategic importance in the eastern front, Ukrainian defenders continue to fortify their positions, achieve new victories, and delay enemy advancements.
Over recent weeks, Russian forces have shifted their tactics on this sector, attempting to bypass Ukrainian defenses with small groups of soldiers operating without heavy armor.
This approach appears to be a response to successful Ukrainian operations and the country’s resilient resistance, which has demonstrated the effectiveness of Ukraine’s military during its defensive efforts.
According to Svitlana Rezvan, head of communications for the 25th Separate Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Russian troops are now focusing on employing anti-drone cloaks to counter Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles, but Ukrainian soldiers have already learned how to detect and neutralize such methods.
She also noted that the Russians largely avoid using armored vehicles here, instead deploying small assault groups aiming to break through Ukrainian defenses through fields and woodland areas.
This ruthless tactic involves the enemy sending wave after wave of personnel, risking their lives’ and attempting to storm Ukrainian positions with minimal fire support, making their assaults difficult to repel.
Ukrainian defenders are well aware of this strategy and have adapted by utilizing modern reconnaissance means and countermeasures against drone threats.
Military experts confirm that Russia’s current approach shows signs of failure in their previous plans to seize key Ukrainian settlements.
Ukrainian forces continue to hold their positions firmly, preventing breakthroughs and inflicting significant losses on the enemy.
Despite ongoing tension and fierce fighting, Ukrainian troops remain resolute and coordinated in their efforts.
According to the General Staff, since the beginning of the year, Russian losses have totaled nearly 210,000 killed and wounded soldiers, and their attempts to capture major cities in the east have so far been unsuccessful.
Ukrainian defenders emphasize that their mission is not only to halt the enemy but also to prepare for future counteroffensive operations to regain territories temporarily occupied by Russian forces.
The situation remains tense, but Ukrainian military efforts demonstrate perseverance and strategic planning for eventual victory.
