Russian strikes on energy infrastructure leave over 29,000 residents of Odesa without power during night drone attack

Last night marked another severe escalation of the ongoing conflict in southern Ukraine, as Russian forces conducted a large-scale attack using kamikaze drones targeting critical energy infrastructure in the Odesa region.
The attack caused substantial damage, leaving more than 29,000 Ukrainian consumers in the dark.
According to Odesa Regional Military Administration Head Oleg Kiper, the city of Chornomorsk and surrounding rural areas were most affected.
The strikes damaged key electrical networks, resulting in widespread power outages across the region.
Restoration efforts are already underway, with critical facilities operating via backup generators.
Additionally, there were damages to private houses and administrative buildings, with some fires quickly extinguished by emergency services.
Fortunately, one person sustained injuries but remains under medical supervision.
All emergency services are actively engaged in clearing the aftermath of the attack and ensuring the safety of civilians.
Reports also confirm that on the same night, similar strikes targeted the gas transport system and vital infrastructure across six Ukrainian regions, worsening the situation further.
Law enforcement agencies have initiated investigations, documenting crimes committed by Russians against civilians in Odesa.
Earlier, it was reported that in the evening, after a drone attack, fires broke out in the port city of Chornomorsk, adding to the complexities of the ongoing assault.
