Russian Army Losses Reach 290,000: Commander Syrsky Reports Latest Data

Amid ongoing fighting on the frontlines, Ukrainian military officials and leadership are voicing serious concerns over the substantial losses inflicted upon the Russian occupying forces.
According to Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky, the Russian army has suffered unprecedented casualties over the eight months of intense hostilities in 2025.
He reported that more than 290,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or severely wounded, with the heaviest losses occurring in the Donetsk sector.
This figure is supported by on-the-ground reports indicating that Russian assault units are operating with extreme resource conservation, such as limiting water supplies to just one bottle per week per soldier, as revealed by an officer from the ‘Rubezh’ brigade.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces continue implementing stabilization measures across various sectors of the front, especially in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
President Volodymyr Zelensky, during a meeting on August 31, emphasized that Ukrainian troops are carefully analyzing the enemy’s intentions, focusing on areas near the borders of Sumy and Kharkiv regions, as well as in the Pokrovsk sector.
He confirmed that the Ukrainian command is preparing new operations and strengthening combat readiness to counter the enemy’s advances and defend the country effectively.
Additionally, it is reported that Ukrainian defense forces possess the necessary resources and are planning new strategic strikes to achieve tactical objectives.
Viktor Tregubov, spokesperson for the Dnipro operational-strategic group, confirmed that Russian infantry units remain near the town of Dobropole, on the Pokrovsk direction, indicating ongoing active hostilities in that area.
