Putin Remains Unchanged: Over 25 Years, He Has Initiated Four Major Wars — Ursula von der Leyen

During her recent official visit to Poland, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reaffirmed that Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s behavior has remained consistent over the years.
She pointed out that in the more than twenty-five years since he assumed power, Putin has launched at least four large-scale military conflicts, highlighting a persistent pattern of aggressive policies.
Von der Leyen emphasized the importance of strengthening Europe’s borders and defense systems to deter potential Russian aggression, especially given ongoing provocations along eastern borders involving Belarus and Russia.
She stressed that Poland is on the front line of European security, directly facing the first threats from Moscow.
As part of broader efforts, Polish and European military experts are working tirelessly to modernize border security and enhance defense capacities, focusing on regions bordering Belarus and Russia—areas where hybrid warfare and illegal migration provocations persist.
The EU has allocated a record-breaking budget of 200 billion zlotys for Poland’s military modernization by 2026.
Russia and its allies see Poland as the shield of Europe, preparing for possible future conflicts.
The country is actively reinforcing its military capabilities, fostering partnerships through exchange programs with Western allies.
In case of escalation in the Baltic and northern regions, Poland is prepared to provide military support to NATO allies, playing a crucial role in maintaining stability and security in the region.
