Features of Pension Suspension and Resumption: What Ukrainian Pensioners Need to Know

In the context of ongoing reforms in Ukraine’s pension system, situations may arise where payments to certain categories of pensioners are temporarily suspended.

This is linked to new identification and monitoring procedures introduced by government authorities to ensure greater transparency and security in the distribution of social benefits.

According to the updated process, authorized banks send monthly reports to the Pension Fund of Ukraine regarding recipients who have or have not completed the identification process.

This helps to detect cases where pensions are drawn through trusted persons for over a year or where personal verification is absent.

When such cases are identified, the pension accounts are temporarily ‘frozen,’ and no funds are credited until verification is completed.

To restore pension payments, retirees must personally confirm their identity either at the bank or via video conference.

These measures aim to ensure the proper use of state funds and prevent fraud schemes.

It is important for pensioners to know that they can carry out identification remotely using the ‘Diia.Pidpys’ service, which simplifies the process greatly for many recipients.
