Fatal Traffic Accident in Mykolaiv Region: 17-Year-Old Girl and Couple Killed, Several Others Hospitalized
In the Bashtyansky district of the Mykolaiv region, a tragic road incident occurred, claiming the lives of multiple passengers and leaving others with severe injuries.
According to police reports, a scheduled Volkswagen Crafter minibus on the Odessa-Dnipro route experienced a serious accident around midday.
The 46-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle on a straight stretch of road, causing the bus to veer off into the roadside ditch, overturn, and crash into a building at a nearby railway crossing.Preliminary investigations reveal that there were 20 passengers aboard the bus.
As a result of the collision, a 17-year-old girl and a married couple aged 66 and 70 lost their lives.
Emergency services provided medical assistance to 11 more victims with varying injuries, including children aged 6 and 12.
The driver has been detained, and authorities have opened a criminal case under Article 286, Part 3 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code, for violations of traffic laws resulting in fatalities.
The offender faces up to 10 years in prison and a three-year ban on driving.The investigation continues as law enforcement officials seek to uncover all details and causes of the tragedy.
