European Institutions Expand Support for Ukraine: Parallel Steps Toward Membership and Sanctions

European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Marta Kos, together with the foreign ministers of EU member states, discussed further strategic measures to aid Ukraine in its fight for independence and sovereignty.
During the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their dedicated readiness to accelerate Ukraine’s integration into the European Union, while also considering the implementation of new sanctions tools.
Special attention was given to the 19th sanctions package, introducing even harsher measures against the aggressor country, as well as the SAFE instrument worth 150 billion euros, designed to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
During her speech, Kos emphasized that Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilians clearly demonstrate Moscow’s lack of desire for peace.
She stressed that European leaders, together with Ukraine, are prepared to act decisively to support a nation striving for EU integration and fighting Russian aggression.
