Zelensky Discusses Ceasefire and Diplomatic Solutions with Modi, Expecting Support at China’s Meetings

Following a telephone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine is hopeful for international backing regarding a ceasefire during upcoming meetings in China.
The head of state emphasized that during the discussion with Modi, he elaborated on the current military situation, highlighting Russia’s ongoing aggression and its devastating impact on Ukraine and its citizens.Zelensky expressed confidence that India’s support for the necessity of stopping hostilities would send an important diplomatic signal.
He also hopes that this topic will be addressed during the meetings in China, where world leaders play a crucial role in seeking peace solutions.
The president pointed out that, according to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin has no intention of stopping the war and tries to evade sanctions through misinformation and tactical maneuvers.He underlined that Putin employs delaying tactics and illusionary negotiations to avoid sanctions and prolong the conflict.
Ukraine expects to increase pressure on Russia through joint efforts to bring the war to an end as quickly as possible.Furthermore, Zelensky reported on the results of working visits by his advisors and senior officials to several countries.
According to him, National Security and Defense Council head Rustem Umerov received reports of negotiations held in Turkey, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, with each country expressing readiness to serve as a platform for dialogue and diplomatic solutions.
In addition, Chief of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak is in the USA, meeting with American colleagues, including Secretary of State Steve Votff.Zelensky stressed the importance of active diplomacy and readiness to respond firmly to Russian actions, emphasizing that Ukraine will work persistently to ensure security and garner international support for the swift end of the war.
