WBO Demands Updated Medical Report from Usyk Ahead of Possible Fight with Parker

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has officially requested a new medical assessment from Ukrainian champion Oleksandr Usyk regarding his injury, which currently hampers negotiations with challenger Joseph Parker.
This development was reported by the reputable sports outlet BoxingScene.
Recently, videos surfaced online showing Usyk engaging in football matches and dancing, sparking suspicions about his recovery progress and active preparation for upcoming bouts.
However, WBO expressed concern over his health status and insists that he undergoes a fresh medical examination in the coming days.
In a letter addressed to Usyk’s lawyer, WBO Championship Committee Chairman Luis Batista Salas stated that the medical results must confirm the injury, include recovery forecasts, and provide approximate timelines for his return to full training.
The organization emphasized that delaying negotiations due to uncertainties surrounding the boxer’s health is unacceptable.
Furthermore, the letter notes discrepancies between the visual material circulating online and official medical data, as well as statements from Usyk’s team about temporarily halting negotiations.
Previously, Usyk’s last fight was a rematch against British boxer Daniel Dubois in London on July 19, where he secured a knockout victory in the fifth round.
This victory marked the third time in his career that Usyk achieved the status of undisputed world champion.
Joseph Parker is the mandatory challenger for Usyk’s WBO title, and his team has already commented on the injury and potential postponement of the fight.
It is also known that Usyk was previously listed among the wealthiest boxers in history.
