US Approves New Defense Agreements for Ukraine Valued at Over $329 Million: A Strategic Step in Strengthening Security and Resilience
The United States has taken a significant decision to bolster military support to Ukraine, which promises to enhance the country’s defensive capabilities considerably.
The US Department of State has officially approved two new Foreign Military Sale packages, with a total value exceeding $329 million.
These decisions are part of a broader strategy to support Ukraine in countering current and emerging threats from aggressive forces.
The first package relates to operational support for the Patriot air defense systems.
Valued at approximately $179.1 million, it includes spare parts—both secret and non-secret—maintenance equipment, software updates, modification kits, testing and communication equipment, as well as integration services, repair, logistical support, and personnel training.
Major contractors for this package are RTX Corporation and Lockheed Martin, well-known for their experience in providing advanced defense systems.
The second package involves continuing satellite communication services via Starlink.
Valued at $150 million, it encompasses engineering, technical, and logistical support, along with other related services.
The main contractor for this initiative is Starlink Services.
U.S.
officials have emphasized that both decisions align with America’s foreign policy and national security interests, strengthening Ukraine’s security posture—the partner that plays a vital role in ensuring political stability and economic development across Europe.
These agreements are designed to augment Ukraine’s ability to respond effectively to both current and future threats, bolster self-defense capabilities, and support regional stability, all without altering the basic military balance in the region or affecting U.S.
defense readiness.
Recently, the State Department also approved the sale of long-range ERAM missiles to Ukraine and equipment for maintaining air defense systems, underscoring the continuous nature of U.S.
military assistance efforts.
