U.S. approves $329 million support package for Ukraine: Patriot systems and Starlink satellite connectivity

In Washington, officials announced the approval of a comprehensive aid package aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities through advanced military equipment and critical communication tools.
The U.S.
Department of Defense confirmed that over $329 million will be allocated for the supply of Patriot air defense system components and Starlink satellite communication services.
This decision marks a significant step in bolstering Ukraine’s defenses amidst ongoing conflict with Russia.According to the Department of Defense’s Directorate of Military Cooperation, Ukraine intends to purchase a broad array of Patriot system parts, including secret and non-secret spare components, technical support, software and updates, system modifications, testing equipment, communication gear, as well as integration, maintenance, training, and logistical support.
The main contractors involved are RTX Corporation and Lockheed Martin.
To facilitate implementation, around fifteen representatives from contractors and five U.S.
government officials will travel to the U.S.
European Command to oversee training sessions and participate in periodic strategic meetings.Furthermore, an additional approval of $150 million was granted for the procurement of satellite communication services through Starlink, with Starlink Services serving as the primary contractor.
This enhancement is expected to significantly improve Ukraine’s operational communications, especially in military and strategic contexts.Historically, this package complements her earlier approval for the sale of 3,350 long-range air-launched missile systems ERAM, valued at approximately $825 million, further demonstrating Washington’s ongoing commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defensive resilience.
